Checkout Process
The checkout process is outlined below, it’s more than what you might be used to at a flight school in North America, because this is a higher standard operation to Part 135 (air taxi) so we don’t get any of the exemptions that flight schools get in other places.
1. Documents Required
- Licence – front & back (signed)
- Current medical certificate (signed)
- Radio operator’s certificate (FAA can be obtained online here: https://apps.fcc.gov/cores/
userLogin.do) - Current flight review (FAA every 2 years, or equivalent for other country requirements)
- Verification from state of licence issuance (FAA is online – enter your info and save results as a PDF: https://amsrvs.registry.faa.
gov/airmeninquiry) - Logbook page with total hours (for private pilots 150 hours total time, 100 hours PIC)
- Bermuda Validation (we will apply for this based on above documents)
2. Company Training / Checks:
- Ground training – company operations + diesel aircraft technical details + safety and emergency procedures – one full day, or two half days (approx 6-8 hours total) – generally do this as a group session when there are a few ready
- Single pilot CRM/decision making – CBT course + zoom session with case studies
- Operational flight training / refresher – approx 3 hours, may be less depending on previous experience flying in Bermuda
- Flight competency check – approx 1 hour flight
3. Annual Recurrent Training / Checks:
- Ground training – company ops + aircraft details + safety and emergency procedures – approx 2-3 hours
- Single pilot CRM/decision making – CBT course + zoom session with case studies
- Operational flight training / refresher – as needed, depending on flight time in last 12 months
- Flight competency check – approx 1 hour flight
Costs for Initial & Annual Recurrent Training:
- Validation $200
- Ground training $20
- CRM training $100
- Company flight training & check – approx 4 hours @ $200 = $800
Total: approx $1120

Please review the schedule and then send your booking requests via hello@blueskybermuda.com, and include:
- Passenger names and phone numbers (for security records)
- Planned flight time
- Total weight (pilot + passengers) and/or max fuel limit
- Emergency contact (unless rental pilot flying solo with contact info on file)
Generally slots are booked at 9am, 11am, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm (the 6pm slot is only available from Mar 15 – Sep 15 due sunset time).
Payments
All rates are based on local bank transfer. If you want to pay by card or foreign wire, please let us know as there are additional fees.
