Sightseeing Tour Options

Discovery Tour

This is the perfect way to see the island and fly overhead the main points of interest (down along South Shore beaches, overhead Paradise Lakes, and back overhead Hamilton and Flatt’s Inlet), and good time frame for children.

Flight Time: 25 minutes (from takeoff to landing). Allow for 1 hour at the airport.

Cost: $350 from May 1, 2025.

Full Island Tour

A longer tour allows us to explore and fly over the whole island – all of the above, plus some spectacular cliffs and stunning turquoise reefs off of the west end of the island, shipwrecks such as the Vixen, Dockyard – and circle overhead any points of interest you’d like (beaches, forts, your house/hotel), while flying slightly slower than the Discovery Tour to allow you to take stunning photos – and even try your hand at the controls! This is our more popular option.

Flight Time: 45 minutes (from takeoff to landing). Allow for 1.5-2 hours at the airport.

Cost: $550 from May 1, 2025.

Both tours include:  2 adults (or 1 adult and 2 children – MAX 3 seats), subject to a take off weight restriction (450 lbs (204 kg) combined for all passengers). All taxes and fees included. Gratuities not expected or required, but always appreciated by our hard-working pilots.

Photography Tour Flights can be arranged for any requested parameters and flight time, within the operating limitations of staying within visual range of the island and 10,000′ or below.

Gift certificates are available as a unique & memorable gift of a flight, to mark a special occasion. They’re incredibly popular for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, father’s/mother’s day and Christmas.

FAQs

How many passengers can you take?2025-12-11T15:51:36+00:00
The price includes 2 adults, if within our max take-off weight, which is 450 lbs (204kg) MAX combined for the passengers.
We do have 3 seats, so if you have a child they could also join, for MAX 3 passengers (so 2 adults + 1 child / 1 adult + 2 children).
If within the weight limit, a third adult is an extra $50.
Is the cost of the flights per person?2025-12-11T15:51:52+00:00

No, the cost of a flight includes 2 adults. Children over 2 are invited along at no extra charge. We have a maximum of three total passengers, and 450 lbs combined weight. For a 3rd adult, we charge an additional $50 as there is more work in balancing the fuel load and pilot.

What if the weather is bad on my flight day?2025-12-11T15:52:07+00:00

If the weather is below operational minimal (3500′ cloud base, 5KM visibility, >15 knots crosswind to the runway, heavy rain or thunderstorms), your pilot will call you to cancel and reschedule for another time.

If it’s a special date, or if you only have a short window, let me know and we can book a 2nd slot as a backup in case the weather doesn’t allow us up that specific date.

Can you take children?2025-12-11T15:52:01+00:00

We love taking kids for their first flight! Our minimum age is 2 years old, and they need to sit on their own seat with their own seat belt, though we suggest usually from 6 years on is best for them to appreciate the experience. If you’re flying with young children, we recommend the 25 minute flight.

When is the best time to fly?2025-12-11T15:52:14+00:00

Any time is beautiful, but a personal preference is 11am as the water has the best blue colors and isn’t to hot. 9am is also good as the temperature is cooler, especially during the summer. 2pm is gorgeous, but may be hot in the summer. Toward the evening, there is greater reflection off the water though it is beautiful in its own way.

Are there any medical restrictions?2025-12-11T15:52:20+00:00

Passengers need to be able to get in and out of the plane on their own, for safety in an emergency situation. We would need to know if you or anyone in your group have any medical conditions that could cause incapacitation, such as epilepsy or a history of fainting. This is not a problem, they would simply have to sit in the back seat during the flight.

Are there any restrictions for pregnancy?2025-12-11T15:52:28+00:00

We don’t fly high enough that pressure changes much, so there’s no restriction on flying during any stage of pregnancy. The primary thing to consider is for you to be comfortable! You may want to plan some measures for motion sickness, as you may be more susceptible than usual.

Are there any restrictions for scuba diving?2025-12-11T15:52:38+00:00

We fly at low levels – usually 1500′ – where the air pressure is not that different from ground level.

The FAA guidance for pilots and passengers suggests the “recommended wait time before going to flight altitudes up to 8,000 feet is at least 12 hours after diving that did not require a controlled ascent (i.e., non-decompression stop diving), and at least 24 hours after diving that required a controlled ascent (i.e., decompression stop diving).”

What happens if I need to cancel?2025-12-11T15:52:45+00:00

If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible, as we prepare the plane, fuel load, and pilot specifically for your flight. Please see our cancellation policy.

To cancel or change a reservation, contact our office asap. Please call or text 441-516-3305, or email us at hello@blueskybermuda.com

Do you offer gift certificates?2025-12-11T15:52:52+00:00

Absolutely! Gifting someone a flight is incredibly popular for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, father’s/mother’s day and Christmas. Once you give the certificate, they can just contact me to book the flight any time that suits them. The certificate is valid for one year. If we book and the weather interferes, we would simply reschedule for another time. Just fill in our contact form to get started!

Do you fly all year round?2025-12-11T15:52:59+00:00

Yes, we can fly 7 days a week, year round, with the exception of a few blackout dates for routine maintenance inspections.

What forms of payment do you take?2025-12-11T15:53:04+00:00

Payment can be made after the flight by cash, credit card (visa or mastercard), local direct deposit, or pre-paid gift certificate. Your pilot will take the details after you land.

The tour cost is inclusive of all fees and insurance. Gratuities are not expected or required, but are very much appreciated by our hard-working pilots at your discretion.

What time should we arrive? How long will we be at the airport?2025-12-11T15:53:15+00:00

The time your booking starts is the time you can arrive at the hangar, no need to be early as we will be preparing the plane or finishing up with the previous passengers before then.

For the Full Island tour (45min flight) allow for 1 1/2 hours at the airport from your start time, to talk through your route, safety briefing, and take photos.

For the Half Island tour (25min flight) allow for 1 hour at the airport from your start time.

Do we need a passport? Do we clear security?2025-12-11T15:53:20+00:00

You don’t need a passport, as we do not leave Bermuda. We are not at the main terminal, so full security screening is not required.

What should we wear? What to bring?2025-12-11T15:53:25+00:00

Wear light clothing, with layers if you run cool. The aircraft does not have air conditioning, just fresh air vents. The temperature at our flight altitude is about the same as on the ground, so dress comfortably for the day. Without much airflow, if we have full sun it can get quite warm inside, so it’s more likely to be hot than cool.

We recommend just bringing a phone/camera, a water bottle (we like to reduce plastics), and wearing closed-toe shoes and sunglasses (even if it doesn’t look sunny).

We suggest that you only bring with you what you need for the flight, as the plane is quite cozy, though if you have extra bags they can be locked in our office or a locker while we’re in the air.

What kind of plane is it?2025-12-11T15:53:34+00:00

Our Cessna 172R aircraft is the most common training aircraft in the world, designed for student pilots, so it is very stable with high wings for better photo opportunities. It is professionally maintained and features updated avionics, flown by experienced commercial pilots, making for a safe and secure experience.

Do you offer flight training?2025-12-11T15:53:42+00:00

We can do a familiarization flight, to experience what flying a small plane is like, feel how it handles and hear all the radio communications with ATC and other airplanes. It’s a great way to find out if flight training is something you want to pursue, before making the time/cost commitment to getting a licence. We aren’t able to offer full flight training because there are certain exercises that we can’t do here, most notably navigation because of the small land mass.

We can also discuss what’s involved in training to get a pilot’s licence, and some pathways to make it as feasible as possible, such as the option to do the ground school (knowledge & theory) portion on island. This is offered periodically through the year, when there’s a minimum of 3 students, so if you want to be on the list to register your interest in the next session let me know.

As a licenced pilot, can I rent the plane?2025-12-11T15:53:47+00:00

Because the plane is registered in Bermuda, and BSF is a commercial 135 operation (air taxi level standards), there is a pretty lengthy check out process. This is only really worthwhile if you live on island, or are here and want to fly regularly through the year. It involves ground training, flight training, flight check, and a licence validation from the Bermuda CAA. This costs about $1500 and usually takes a couple of months to fit everything in. There are also annual recurrent requirements. Let us know if you want to get more info on starting that process.

If you want to just go up as a one-time flight, you would have to sit right seat but can take the controls for cruise. A leisurely cruise around the whole island is rarely more than 1.0 hobbs time.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Any cancellations or rescheduling made by the pilot because of adverse weather, maintenance or other safety issues will be rescheduled with no additional charge. Any cancellations or rescheduling made by the passenger within 48 hours are subject to 15% of the scheduled flight. Any cancellations or rescheduling made by the passenger within 24 hours are subject to 100% of the scheduled flight.
